Biographical data
From 1941 to 1949, he attended high school in Keszthely. After graduating from high school, he applied for admission to the Society of Jesus and began his novitiate at the Manréza formation house in Buda in August 1949. In 1950, he was transferred to Szeged, and from there he was sent to Jászberény as a place of forced residence. He studied theology for two years at the Central Seminary, then worked as an unskilled laborer in Budapest from 1952 to 1954. From 1954 to 1956, he studied as an external student at the Academy of Theology. In 1956, he left the country. From 1958 to 1960, he continued his studies in Maastricht, the Netherlands, where he was ordained a priest on August 22, 1958. In 1992, he returned to Budapest, where he served as co-editor of *Távlatok* and, in the early years, as editor of *A Szív*. He later became chairman of the editorial board.
