Biographical data
He attended the Benedictine school in Győr starting in 1932 and graduated in 1940. In 1940–41, he studied at the seminary in Győr because his father opposed his becoming a Jesuit. He entered the Jesuit Order on August 14, 1941. In 1949, with the help of his brother who worked for the railroad, he defected; in 1950, he was ordained a priest by the Archbishop of Turin. From 1952, he served in Brazil, where he completed a degree in clinical psychology and became a spiritual director. In 1967, he was diagnosed with severe lung cancer; his spiritual diary was published in several languages.
