Biographical data
He entered the order on June 30, 1946. He began studying philosophy in Szeged. In 1949—thanks to a free rail pass he had obtained through his father—he served as a liaison for Jesuit students who were to be smuggled out of the country.
He was the last of the Jesuits in Szeged to leave the country, but due to the stress and turmoil he experienced, he fell seriously ill with tuberculosis; as a result, after several interruptions, he was only able to resume his studies in 1954. From 1955 to 1958, he studied theology in Granada. He was ordained a priest there on July 15, 1957. Between 1961 and 1962, he earned his doctorate in Rome. He took his final vows on August 15, 1963.
He was the creator and founder of the “Hungarian Church History Encyclopedia Working Group (METEM).”
His grave is located in Courtland, ON.
