Biographical data
His parents were István Molnár, a postal worker, and Lídia Kozma. He completed his high school studies in Eger at the St. Bernard Cistercian High School. He entered the order on August 13, 1924; he took his first vows on August 14, 1925, and his perpetual vows on June 27, 1931. He completed his theological studies between 1927 and 1934 at the Pontificia Università San Tommaso D’Aquino in Rome, where he earned a doctorate in theology. He was ordained a priest on June 26, 1932, in the chapel of the Lateran Basilica in Rome by Cardinal Francesco Marchetti Selvaggiani. He celebrated his first Mass the following day at the ancient Benedictine abbey of Monte Cassino. He left the country together with Anselm Nagy on October 11, 1945. He was elected abbot in 1963. He was consecrated abbot by Sighard Kleiner on December 30, 1963, with the assistance of Abbot General Bonaventure Knaebel, OSB (St. Meinrad), and Abbot Thomas Keating, OCSO (Spencer). He died of a heart attack.
