Biographical data
His mother’s name was Mária Bódis. He was ordained a priest in Miskolc in 1947. He was the last Carmelite priest to be ordained in Hungary before the order was dissolved. He was arrested in 1952 and held in custody for six months. He was unable to carry out his priestly duties and worked as a laboratory assistant. In the national security files, he is referred to as a network member who was recruited through blackmail because he participated in the “White Guard counterrevolutionary organization.”
He likely left Hungary in 1956, as he is referred to as a freedom fighter in the publication *Szabad Magyarság*. After defecting, he left the priesthood and married. In 1962, he was still in the United States; by 1964, according to Hungarian state security reports, he was no longer among the Hungarian priests in the United States.
