Biographical data
His parents were János Major, a master shoemaker, and Ágnes Handrik. He completed his high school studies in Budapest at the St. Imre Cistercian High School. He entered the order on May 26, 1944. He took his first vows on May 27, 1945, and his perpetual vows on February 1, 1949. He completed his theological studies in Zirc. He was ordained a priest on June 29, 1949, by Bishop Sándor Kovács of Szombathely. He left the country in 1967. In 1981, he left the order and served as a secular priest.
