Biographical data

He joined the order on September 7, 1903. He took his solemn vows on June 18, 1908. He was ordained a priest on June 24, 1910. In 1917, he served as a missionary in Jerusalem. From 1931, he served as a missionary in China. On July 3, 1938, he became prefect of the Apostolic Prefecture of Paojing (Praefectura Apostolica Paokingensis). He retained this title—legally—until his death. The prefecture has remained vacant ever since for political reasons. In 1948, he visited Hungary, but his return became impossible due to the changed political conditions in Hungary and China. From 1950, he was the initiator of the priests’ peace movement, and from 1951, he served as co-chair of the Catholic Priests’ Peace Committee in the capital.
