Biographical data
He was born in the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria, which was part of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. His parents were Albert Koller and Anastasia Bauer, and he had seven siblings. He arrived in the United States at the age of two. He was ordained a priest on June 14, 1936.
He was involved in Hungarian pastoral work, but there is no information on when or where he learned Hungarian.
