Biographical data
He graduated from the Pannonhalma Benedictine Order’s High School in Győr, and then entered the Benedictine Order on August 6, 1931. He completed his theological studies in Rome. He took his solemn vows on September 13, 1935, and was ordained a priest on June 13, 1937. From 1939, he lived in São Paulo, Brazil, serving the local Hungarian community. From 1949 to 1953, he served as house superior; in 1950, he was one of the founders of the Hungarian House in São Paulo and served as the founding director of St. Imre College. From 1953, he was prior of St. Gellért Monastery. From 1954, he served as president of the Federation of Hungarians in South America, and from 1960, he also held the position of president of the Conferencia dos Religiosos do Brasil (the conference of religious communities in Brazil). From 1958 to 1982, he taught English and religion at St. Imre College.
In recognition of his achievements, he was awarded the Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary, and the Brazilian government honored him with the “Comendador” (Knight) Cross of the Order of Rio Branco.
The assistant pastor is exploring the possibility of establishing a Benedictine monastery on the west coast
