Imre Kocsis, OFM, was a Franciscan friar of Hungarian descent who was likely born in the United States. He prepared for the priesthood as a student at St. Joseph’s College in Teutopolis, Illinois, and was ordained a priest on July 4, 1917. According to available records, he was a member of the Franciscan Province of the Sacred Heart. Among his places of service, Omaha, Nebraska, can be confirmed with certainty; according to a directory from the 1940s, he was active at 1730 South 16th Street. He later served in Washington, D.C., and then in Castroville; in the latter case, the uncertainty regarding whether he was in Texas or California requires further verification. A separate directory entry mentions San Antonio, Texas, at R. R. 1, which supports the Texas connection. His birth and death dates are currently unknown.
