He was a student at the Pázmáneum in Vienna from 1890. He was ordained a priest in 1892. In 1902, proceedings were initiated against him for Pan-Slavic agitation, and he was later labeled a “Czechoslovak sympathizer.” He arrived in the United States in 1906, by which time he was already a dean. In 1918, he was granted the title of papal chaplain and received the Knight’s Cross of the Bulgarian Royal Order of St. Alexander. In 1937, he served as the government commissioner of the Rozsnyó bishopric.
