Andor Rakaczki, a Greek Catholic priest, was born on August 11, 1949, in Múcsony, the son of Mihály Rakaczki and Mária Szeman. He completed his high school studies at the Franciscan High School in Esztergom, then became a student at the Central Seminary in Budapest, where he earned a Doctor of Sacred Theology (STD) degree in 1972. Following the Eastern Catholic tradition, on he married Sára Matsz, and on September 16, 1973, Bishop Joáchim Szegedi of Kőrös ordained him as a priest of the Apostolic Exarchate of Miskolc in Máriapócs.

He began his priestly ministry in Hungary, serving first in Máriapócs and then in Tornabarakony as a Greek Catholic pastor. In 1978, he emigrated with his family to Canada, where, as part of the Greek Catholic Diocese of Toronto, he became pastor of the St. George Hungarian Greek Catholic Parish in Courtland, Ontario.

In 1986, he moved to the United States and continued his ministry as a priest of the Greek Catholic Diocese of Passaic. For one year, he served as pastor of Holy Cross Hungarian Byzantine Catholic Church in New York; subsequently, from 1987 to 1989, he served at the St. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Parish in Elizabeth. In 1989, he moved to Bridgeport, where he led the Holy Trinity Hungarian Greek Catholic Parish for a decade, until 1999.

In the final stage of his life, he took on the pastoral care of several communities simultaneously. Until his death, he served the congregations of the St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Parishes in White Plains and Yonkers, as well as, once again, the Holy Cross Hungarian Byzantine Catholic Church in New York. Through his ministry, he played a defining role in the pastoral life of the Hungarian Greek Catholic diaspora in Canada and the United States for more than three decades.
