Biographical data
He completed his high school studies in Gyula. He studied theology first in Nagyvárad and then in Szeged; he later moved to Innsbruck, where he was ordained a priest on March 21, 1920. On November 6, 1921, with the bishop’s permission, he left for the United States, but returned shortly thereafter. In 1923, he studied in Switzerland. On December 20, 1923, he earned his doctorate in Szeged. On December 28, 1923, he was granted permission to serve abroad (in the United Kingdom) for one year, but he returned home shortly thereafter. He left permanently for the United States in 1925. In his will, he bequeathed a substantial sum to the education of priests.
