Biographical data
According to other sources, his name was Iván Kemenes.
He attended the Jesuit high school in Kalocsa, where he graduated in 1906. From 1906 to 1908, he was a student at the CGH in Rome, and from 1908 to 1911, he was a university student in Innsbruck. In 1915, he earned his doctorate in canon law and then completed his military service. Later, he served as a tutor for the Fiáth, Széchenyi, and Majláth families.
He was ordained a priest on July 26, 1920, in Székesfehérvár. In 1931, he studied liturgy in Rome. According to Máté:212, he was a Jesuit novice in 1933.
In 1937, he was ordained a cantor oblate at St. John’s Benedictine Abbey in Collegeville, MI, USA.
He was the honorary chaplain of the Order of Malta. He served as the official interpreter for Cardinal József Mindszenty during the cardinal’s 1948 visit to the United States.
He is buried at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in Yonkers, NY, USA. According to his tombstone, he died on April 3, 1959.
