Biographical data
His parents were János Máhig and Terézia Rengert, and he had eight siblings. He attended school in Pápa and later at the Piarist high school in Veszprém. He graduated from high school in 1930. He studied theology in Veszprém and was ordained a priest on June 21, 1935. From 1935 to 1937, he studied in Budapest and then in Vienna, where he earned a doctorate in theology. On November 29, 1944, the Arrow Cross Party took him into custody because he had expressed solidarity with the arrested József Mindszenty. After being held in the Veszprém prison, he was imprisoned in Sopronkőhida, and then remained under police supervision at the convent of the Sisters of the Divine Savior in Sopron until February 22, 1945. In 1954, he was suspended for political reasons but remained at the Lovaspatona parish. After 1956, he left the country and went to Canada. In 1967, he was incardinated into the Diocese of Montréal, MB. He died suddenly while moving.
