Biographical data
He was born in what was historically Hungary, in present-day Serbia, but spoke very little Hungarian. His father was Msgr. May Frank, and his mother was Mária Fuchs. He likely came from a Greek Catholic or Orthodox family.
He was ordained a priest on May 29, 1930, in the United States, in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia, PA. At that time, since the situation of Greek Catholics was uncertain in many respects, it was not uncommon for a Roman bishop to ordain a priest of the Greek Catholic rite. There is no information on which rite he used in his ministry, but based on his places of service, it is likely that he used the Roman Catholic rite. He became a papal prelate on March 17, 1963.
His grave is located at the Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery in Northampton, PA, USA.
