Biographical data
He studied theology in Győr. He was ordained a priest on June 18, 1939. In 1956, he fled to the West. Writing under the pen name Tűz Tamás, he is undoubtedly one of the most significant poets of Hungarian literature in the West. He was the founder of the American Hungarian Writers group. He served as a canon in Győr beginning in 1987. In 1991, he was named an honorary citizen of Győr. He was in poor health during the final years of his life and passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton.
