He completed high school in the evening program. He studied theology in Eger and was ordained a priest in Vác on June 23, 1963. As part of the reorganization of diocesan boundaries in 1993, he was transferred to the Archdiocese of Esztergom-Budapest. He is a member of the Order of the Holy Crown of the Great Lady of the Hungarians, the Triumphant Queen of the World, a member of the Order of St. George, a brigadier general in the 1956 Order of Vitéz, and a major general in the 1956 Hungarian National Guard. He was the founder of the St. Joseph the Worker Christian Cultural Center.
