Biographical data
His father was Mihály Lengyel, a Greek Catholic priest, and his mother was Anna Fusek (Fux in other sources). His wife’s name has not been recorded. He pursued his theological studies in Uzhhorod. On June 11, 1882, he was ordained a priest by János Pásztélyi Kovács, Bishop of Munkács. He served in the United States beginning in 1901. During his time in Scranton, he freed the parish from its debts, renovated the interior of the church, had a granite cross erected in front of the church, expanded the collection of chasubles, and had a new chandelier from Hungary installed.
