Biographical data
His parents were János Kubinyi, Imperial and Royal Lieutenant General, and Mária-Matild Földváry of Földvár-Bernáthfalva, Imperial and Royal Dame of the Order of the Starry Cross. His godfather was Emperor Franz Joseph, King of Hungary. He completed his secondary education at the high schools in Szeged, Budapest’s 5th District, and Esztergom. He studied theology in Kalocsa. He was ordained a priest on March 18, 1897. He arrived in the United States around 1900. In 1912, he broke away from the Church, which caused a schism among the faithful (he first converted to the Old Catholic Church, then to the Episcopal Church). (According to the MKL, Kubinyi later repented of his mistake, did penance in a Hungarian monastery, and died there in 1938; however, other sources state that he lived until 1966 and ceased his priestly activities.) On April 25, 1916, in New York City, he married Florence Marie Telmany (born in New York on December 20, 1895; pen name: F. M. Gloria). According to Máté, he was a member of the Diocese of Eger. He was an enthusiastic writer, painter, and performer. According to some sources, he returned to Hungary after World War II, but he passed away during a visit to the United States in 1966.
