Biographical data
His father was György Lopajda, and his mother was Apollónia Jakab. He was born on August 21, 1869. He entered the order on September 7, 1888. He completed his theological studies in Máriapócs, but took his exams in Ungvár. He was ordained a priest on December 25, 1893, by Bishop Gyula Firczák of Munkács. He changed his name to Kovács in 1890. He lived in the United States from 1910 onward.
