Some sources list him as belonging to the Diocese of Košice, but he is no longer listed in the 1891 sematism. In an open letter written in 1884, he notes that the Slovaks are learning Hungarian, as Hungarian workers are held in high esteem in America. In Plymouth, his predecessor, József Kossalkó, posed a serious problem for him, as Kossalkó was accused of embezzling large sums of money, leading the church into financial ruin.
