Biographical data
He was of Slovak descent but spoke Hungarian. In 1891, the Archbishop of New York appointed him pastor to the Slovaks, Vends, Saxons, and Hungarians from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, but this plan proved unsuccessful due to resistance from the Hungarians, who wanted their own pastor.
