He was born in the United States on the last day of the 19th century. At the age of 12, he moved to Eperjes to study, where he completed his high school diploma and went on to seminary training. He married Anna, the Greek Catholic daughter of Fr. Emil Burik, who passed away in 1965. He was ordained a priest by Bazil Takách in Johnstown, PA, on December 13, 1925. He served as vicar general for the parishes in Pennsylvania, as a bishop’s consul, and as the diocese’s official Hungarian translator, and was also a member of the liturgical committee. On July 16, 1971, he was granted the title of papal prelate. He passed away in the 103rd year of his life. He was the last and longest-living pastor who was ordained as a priest while still a married man, before the introduction of mandatory celibacy for Greek Catholics in the United States.
