Biographical data
He was born in the United States but was incardinated into the Diocese of Szombathely. He returned to the United States at the beginning of World War II. He completed his theological studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University as a student of the Collegium Germanicum-Hungaricum in Rome. He received his doctorate in philosophy there. He was ordained a priest on October 29, 1933, by Cardinal Marchetti Selvaggiani in Rome. He spoke German, Italian, and English.
