Mihály Bálint Balogh was born on October 12, 1864, in Harcos. His father was Bálint Balogh, a priest, and his mother was Irma Bacsinszky. He completed his theological studies in Uzhhorod. On September 28, 1890, he was ordained a priest by Bishop Vaszil Kovács of Munkács. His wife was Irma Tabakovics.
From 1894, he served in the United States, where he provided pastoral care to the early Hungarian and Ruthenian Greek Catholic communities in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Ohio. He served at several mission stations and parishes, including in Bridgeport, Pittsburgh, Butler, Youngstown, and Cleveland.
During a period of crisis for the American Greek Catholic communities, he reportedly came into contact with the Orthodox movement, but later returned to the Greek Catholic Church. In the final years of his life, he served as pastor of the Greek Catholic community in Cleveland.
His contemporaries called him a “great, true Hungarian and a true spiritual leader.” He passed away in Cleveland on December 27, 1920.
