Biographical data
István Holócsi, a Salesian novice, was born in Illésháza in 1898. He served in the artillery during World War I, then entered the Salesian Order in Péliföldszentkereszt. He took his religious vows in 1924 and subsequently departed for the mission in Peru. He had difficulty coping with the high-altitude climate, but he is remembered as a helpful and prayerful monk. He began his theological studies in Lima, and after a brief stay in the hospital, he passed away in Callao on November 17, 1929. Before his death, he received the last rites.
