Biographical data
His great-grandfather was one of the Martyrs of Arad, József Knezic. His father was General Vilmos Henkey-Hőnig. He graduated from high school in Miskolc. He studied at the Gregorian University in Rome as a student of the CGU,9 where he was ordained a priest on October 30, 1932. He earned a doctorate in philosophy and then in theology. In 1945, he was arrested on charges of anti-people crimes and sentenced to three years in prison. After two months, he was temporarily released due to overcrowding in the prison. In 1947, he voluntarily reported to serve the remainder of his sentence. His sentence was commuted, and he was released after 10 months. He left the country in 1948 and served as a pastor in Austria and then in Switzerland. From 1950 to 1953, he was a Hungarian pastor in England. He was granted the title of papal prelate. He also served as a Scout leader and was chaplain to the Hungarian Knights of Malta.
