A permanent, married deacon. His wife was Ilona Balássy, and they had seven children. He was one of those affected by the persecution of the Church by the Hungarian communist regime in the 1950s. In 1952, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison in a joint trial with the Piarist monk György Bulányi. After the 1956 Revolution, he emigrated to the United States, where he became an active member of the American Hungarian Catholic communities. In 1977, he was ordained a permanent deacon of the Diocese of Cleveland. He served in the Hungarian parishes of Cleveland and Akron, and at the latter, he also served as parish administrator for a time.
