Biographical data
His father was Gábor Artimovics, a Greek Catholic priest, and his mother was Julianna Lakatos. In accordance with Eastern Catholic tradition, he served as a married priest; his wife was Irén Kallók, whom he married on October 21, 1879. They had seven children.
He was a student at the Cistercian High School in Eger in 1870, where he received a reward of 4 forints and 20 krajcár.
He completed his theological studies in Uzhhorod. He was ordained a priest by Bishop János Kovács of Munkács on December 3, 1879.
He arrived in the United States on February 5, 1904, aboard the ship Blucher, which had departed from Cuxhaven.
In America, he served in several Greek Catholic communities in Pennsylvania, including Jessup, St. Clair, and Conemaugh. He served as parish priest in the latter until his death.

As a member of the first generation of American Hungarian and Ruthenian Greek Catholic priests, he was primarily involved in the pastoral care of immigrant mining communities in Pennsylvania. He was also active as a writer; his well-known essay, titled “God Does Not Beat with a Stick,” was published in the newspaper Hajnal in 1908.
