Biographical data
Balogh János Benignusz OFM 1903. március 26-án született Kecskeméten. 1924. április 5-én lépett be a ferences rend Kapisztrán-kusztódiájába. Noviciátusát 1925-ben kezdte meg, örökfogadalmát 1929. szeptember 1-jén tette le. Nem papként, hanem szerzetestestvérként szolgált a rendben. Magyarországi működésének ismert állomáshelye Baja volt. 1931-ben az Egyesült Államokba került, ahol a magyar ferences és katolikus közösségi élet aktív szereplőjévé vált. 1935 és 1955 között a New Brunswick-i Szent László templom mellett működött, ahol a Szent Imre Ifjúsági Klub alapító vezetőjeként jelentős közösségszervező munkát végzett. Később Michigan államban, DeWitt környékén élt és szolgált szerzetestestvérként. 1970. március 23-án hunyt el Lansingben, Michigan államban. Sírja Roeblingben, New Jersey államban található.
